Great place, great hosts and lovely quirky touches

Best self catering accommodation we've ever used. Perfect for us and our dogs. Easy access to Durham, coast and Northumberland.

Our favourite place to go to relax!! Harry's house it's soo nice and beautiful, it feels like your "holiday home" the minute you enter the door.. Owner Claire couldn't be more friendly and helpful, always available to give advice or sort out anything you may need. The garden is just... perfect. The hot tub makes my day every time! Love the fresh eggs from the chicken. And my dogs love having the beach near by and enjoying time in the garden with us . 100% recommend, and 100% a place I try to visit at least twice a year.

Came here a couple of months ago with my partner (was unable to leave a review until now, for some reason) and coming again next week. WOW, quite simply the most perfect getaway. Everything you could possibly need is nearby. Claire is so helpful and attentive. It's brill that you can take your fur babies too!!! You could sit on the garden and relax for hours knowing that it is very secure for the dogs. The locals are super friendly and also make you feel welcome.

Had a lovely few days away with the girls.very quirky place. Well looked after garden,everything you need for a chilled out time and brucey bonus fabulous hot tub.got everything you need .even fresh eggs for breakfast,good taxi company that looked after us Belmont taxi . And the fabulous escape rooms,owner lives next door so if we had a problem sorted straight away not that we did.would highly recommended a visit ,children and dog friendly. 😀

A MUST for dog owners - and even those without dogs! Fantastically quirky decor, loads of space - we have 2 adults, 2 boys and a German shepherd. Lots of little touches make it special: boards games, books, dvds, dog bowls and a stock of basics like salt, pepper, vinegar etc. The garden, chickens and hot tub are, without a doubt, the highlight of any trip. Collecting fresh eggs every morning for breakfast is such fun. The surrounding area has something for everyone on the doorstep and also within a short drive from the cottage. We visited Durham city centre and Seaham beach and are looking forward to a day at Flamingoland next time. Claire also offers a pet sitting service for a reasonable fee - which allows us to go out for one day at the theme park knowing that our dog is well looked after.

Booked Harrys House to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends. Location is great, 5 minutes by car to Durham City Centre and there is a Spar a 2 minute walk away if you need anything. Hot Tub was amazing, very hot and the garden area is lovely with lighting for an evening. Beds are si comfortable.and there was plenty of room.for 5 adults. Kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and there was fresh eggs left for is with the option to collect more from the chickens.

Had an amazing few days here at HarrysHouse in the beautiful City of Durham , it does state self catering , but on arrival at this very funky fun setting there was bread in the bread bin , there was milk & butter in the fridge & chickens in the garden to help yourself daily to the freshest eggs possible . The House was so cozy looking , clean & made to feel welcoming nothing at all was a trouble to the wonderful friendly owners ( that lived next door , only a knock away ... or given a number to ring or text ) after unpacking and going out exploring the city , ( And a few beverages 🍸🍸🍸) we arrived back to the beautiful garden lit up beautifully & our hot tub was steaming ( ready for us ) all we had to do was slip into our bikini & budgie trunks ( in the adjoining heated changing room ) climb in and look up at the stars ........ perfect ( dunno about 3 star rating on this little treat away ) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars in our eyes We Loved It

We have stayed here 3 times now, and every time we've been made more than welcome, Peter and Claire are perfect hosts, the garden and hot tub are fantastic, the rooms are well furnished and extremely comfortable well worth a visit.
